King Street Residence

An 1830s duplex, featuring a wood burning fireplace and some quirky existing conditions.

As seen in Apartment Therapy, this enchanting 750 sq ft duplex-and-a-half parlor unit nestled in an 1830s Hudson Square townhouse on King Street was a small, mostly cosmetic renovation with complex conditions. It features original 10-inch pine floors, sun-drenched south-facing windows, and a wood-burning fireplace that serves as the heart of the home. The primary work done was painting, custom millwork and furniture selection. It was designed for a single woman in her late twenties, and her dog. The warm, layered, and slightly eclectic design created a space that both felt modern, and paid homage to the charm of the apartment and the neighborhood it sits within. Many of the furniture items in the home were purchased from local vintage stores in New York City, or had been in the owner’s family for years.
