Building the Business

What started as an idea jotted down in a long, Friday Evening email turned into Urby Furnished, growing from a 2-unit pilot project to a thriving 102-unit operation across 6 multi-family apartment buildings and 5 municipalities. As the visionary behind the short-term rental division of Urby, I created a seamless living experience where guests enjoy thoughtfully designed spaces with premium amenities on flexible lease terms. A priority of the platform was to have established, consistent standards of thoughtful, intuitive design and outstanding service across all locations, creating sub-brand where quality could be trusted, regardless of location.

Business Development & Strategy

  • Conceived and executed Urby Furnished's complete business model, designing a home-away-from-home experience for stays of a week, month, or longer.

  • Navigated complex regulatory environments across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Negotiated strategic partnerships and established revenue-sharing structures with key stakeholders.

  • Managed comprehensive revenue operations, creating accounting systems and budgets from scratch without initial historical data.

Product Development

  • Oversaw the entire product lifecycle from concept to daily operations.

  • Managed zoning and entitlement considerations for short-term rental properties.

  • Led the design and installation of luxury furnished apartments featuring smart layouts, premium appliances, and essential furnishings.

  • Created centrally located, flexible-stay accommodations that simplified relocation to new cities.

Technology & Systems Integration

  • Independently implemented and optimized property management, revenue management, and guest engagement software.

  • Built website with API connections and managed distribution channels.

  • Developed a comprehensive intranet using Notion to centralize critical information across properties, including SOPs, accounting, and real-time maintenance logs.

Platform Management

  • Ensured guests received the complete Urby experience: on-site dining, fitness facilities, green spaces, 24/7 welcome desk, and community events.

  • Collaborated with brand and marketing leadership to deliver a cohesive digital and physical guest experience.

  • Built and led a high-performing, decentralized team while balancing the needs of guests, long-term residents, investors, and lenders.
